“I thought I’d write a short testimonial to say how immensely pleased I am at IronGear pickups. I thought I’d take the gamble with a Jailhouse Rails for my Warmoth Strat in bridge position, I didn’t have the dosh for a Seymour Duncan Hotrails at the time. It blew me away and is now my regular gigging guitar. I have A/B tested it with a Hotrails in my other Strat and I can barely notice the difference. “I'm a local band's guitarist and I also do repairs/rebuilds on the side to stay busy. I ordered two Jailhouse Rails a couple of months ago for a rebuild job - I had come across a Stratocaster that was in seriously bad shape and the stock parts sounded awful, but the body and neck were made of fairly nice materials and I thought maybe I could save it. I stumbled across your company trying to find an alternative to the Seymour-Duncan equivalents, which I'm not a fan of. These pickups make such a difference! They're definitely high-gain, but they don't sound ragged, shrill or just plain messy like so many of the "Strat single-coil space replacement" type do. Yes, I did have to put a stronger capacitor on the tone control to hold them back a little bit, but as that cost me an additional $0.70 I didn't mind at all. "Regarding the "Jailhouse Rail" in particular , this is without a doubt the best pickup I have ever heard! It has all the low end grunt you could ever want, but with a super smooth and creamy high mid response, which frankly blew me away. It tracks my pick strokes perfectly, allowing the sound to vary from super hard thrash metal to great sleazy rock tones without having to adjust the settings on either the guitar or amp.
